Weekly and Private Dance Classes in Oxford and London
Caitlyn has been teaching bellydance since 2003 and is fully insured through the Foundation for Community Dance. In her classes, students will learn technique and choreography and develop the skills to improvise and choreograph on their own. All weekly classes and most private lessons are held in Oxford but private lessons and occasional group classes may be arranged in other locations such as Banbury, Didcot, Windsor or London. Caitlyn is in London around once a week.

In addition to being a beautiful, sensual art form, oriental dance is a fantastic way to keep fit and build strength. Drop in any time, no need to pre-register.

FAQ:

1. These classes are open to anyone over the age of twelve. Classes include people of all ages, sizes and cultures.
2.
Attire: try to wear loose/stretchy trousers or a skirt that sits on your hips. Jeans or tight, non-stretchy trousers will inhibit your movements.
3. If you are unable to arrange child care during the class, you are welcome to bring children to the class if they can sit through it reasonably quietly.
4. Absolutely no spectators, excepting young children as discussed above.
5. If you show up late and/or haven't had time to bring your dance clothes--it's ok! If you are late, take a few minutes to stretch before you join in.
5. Any men genuinely interested in learning the dance should email beforehand. Although oriental dance is usually very feminine, there is historical precendent for male performers (see the News and Links page for a link to an article on this).

Lessons at Parties
Caitlyn is available to teach lessons at parties such as hen nights, birthdays, baby showers. The price is the same as for a performance, and you may combine a lesson with a dance show.  Caitlyn teaches these classes in costume and brings coin belts to lend to the guests. These lessons can be scheduled anywhere in the UK.

 Private Lessons
Most students learn four times as quickly in private lessons. Private classes also allow dancers to focus on their unique dance goals, whether that is a performance choreography or fitness and strength-building.
~Caitlyn lives primarily in Oxfordshire but teaches in London as well. She can teach at a local community centre, or at your home or college. In Oxford she has her own studio. Lessons are £20 to £40 total for up to two people, plus 50% for each additional person. Please contact her to discuss your goals.
